Things To Do This Summer 2018

For the first time since we can remember we are having a PROPER SUMMER! The sun is out, the BBQ's are cleaned and everyone is looking a rather redder shade than red. There really is no better place to be than Ireland when the weather is good - we believe anyway.

So for that reason, we have put together a few different things that you can be doing this Summer to keep yourself busy, fit and active while enjoying the great outdoors. As we all know, the rain could return any day now so we have included some indoor activities also. The majority of our suggestions are something the whole family can enjoy, or something you can do with a group of friends all based around the Omagh, Strabane and Derry Areas.

Hopefully you can find the time to do at least one of these activities during the Summer months and if you do please drop a comment below and let us know - even share your pictures! Please feel free to share even more suggestions about things you think are worthwhile doing within the comments below also.

Activity Days

The Jungle NI is a huge favourite here among the Access for Success team as we regularly take groups out to Moneymore for team building games and activities. The staff at The Jungle cannot do enough for you with a website so easy to navigate through and always someone on the other side of the phone, you will find the right activities for you in no time. They do everything from Zorbing to Segways, Paintballing or Archery and they will happily tailor a package to meet your needs. If you have a big group going try the Crystal Challenge - it can get pretty competitive! Why not make a weekend out of it and stay at their on-site Glamping Tents for the full Jungle Experience

Todd's Leap based just between Omagh and Ballygawley is other activity centre with plenty to offer. They are particularly well-known for having Ireland's longest zipline and also appearing in an episode of Don't Tell The Bride. Tucked away in the heart of the Tyrone countryside this is a hidden gem not to be missed for a Saturday afternoon out.

Benone Beach is always the first beach people will recommend to you if you ask. As well as being a beautiful, clean and child-friendly place, Benone is now one of very few disability accessible beaches in Northern Ireland. They have specialist equipment including surfboards suitable for wheelchair users, hoists, changing benches, beach wheelchairs, walkers and floating chairs. This is why we would recommend a day out at Benone especially if you are/know someone who has a physical disability.

Cuilcagh Mountain Boardwalk - Stairway to Heaven

Cuilcagh Mountain Boardwalk - Stairway to Heaven

Cuilcagh Mountain Boardwalk built in 2015 has been shared all over Facebook since and is also known as the "Stairway to Heaven" because of its picturesque landscape. To get there head towards the Marble Arch Cave and the car park is directly opposite the entrance to the Caves - around 45 minutes from Enniskillen. 450 steps will get you to the top of Cuilcagh with views over Fermanagh, Tyrone and Donegal. On a hot day make sure to bring enough water to get you to the top or make a day of it and take a picnic to the peak and enjoy the views. But don't take our word for it - bring a camera and get your best selfie face ready!
